  1.   Welcome to Merchant! the online space opera by Mike Marshburn. First off, I'd
  2. like to thank you for even DL'ing this file and reading the docs here - it's
  3. been (and continues to be) a lot of fun writing stuff other people use.

  5.   Now on to the nitty gritty.  I'd like to ask all of you to bear with me for a
  6. couple of things.  First off, this program is SHAREWARE.  That's right, you can
  7. use it for as long as you want, but if you want it to be fully functional you
  8. have to sent a measly $20 (which isn't much if you think about it) to:

  15. Note: The NEW registration fee for Merchant! is now $20, NOT $10 as it was.

  18.   That will register your product with me and in return get you your own
  19. personal serial number so the program works entirely.  Please use the enclosed
  20. order form when sending me the shareware fee.  As soon as I receive your check
  21. I will send out your registration information to you.

  23.   I don't expect people to send me any money unless they are truly excited
  24. about this product.  I will attempt to keep the latest version on the Hermes
  25. support board so that people can check it out there. In addition, the latest
  26. version is always available on the Power User's Macintosh Association, my
  27. BBS.  The number is: (909) 792-4902, 14.4k, Hermes II.

  29. ========----------- INSTRUCTIONS!!  Read Carefully!! --------------========
  30. As of version v0.50b1 the following installation instructions are in effect:
  31.   1. Copy Merchant! v0.xxb1 into your Externals folder.
  32.   2. Go into Hermes, run Merchant!, init, quit, restart, and have fun!!!
  33.   3. Add about 600k of RAM to the Hermes GetInfo box.

  36. UPGRADE NOTE:
  37.   If you are upgrading from a previous version of v0.47bx, then you DO NOT need
  38. to Re-Init the universe.  Merchant! will now auto-detect a change in the files
  39. and automatically enter the Universe Initialization procedure if necessary!  In
  40. other words, if Merchant! loads up fine after you first install it then there
  41. isn't a problem, but if it tells you that the version you're upgrading from has
  42. the older file sets then it will allow you to Init the Universe.

  44.   Then just drop into the game and tell me what you think.  I want to show up
  45. all those IBM people who think that TW2002 is the BEST online game ever.  Well,
  46. we'll show them! <grin>.

  48.   Remember, this program is SHAREWARE.  I reserve all rights to it's code and
  49. it may not be sold in any form under any other name.  I hope you all enjoy this
  50. because I sure as heck have a blast when I finally get a new command working!
